Lauren Caso, MT-BC

 

Lauren Caso is a Board Certified Music Therapist, Professor, and Audio Visual Specialist from the Boston area. She received both her Masters (MA) and Undergraduate Degree (BM) in Music Therapy from Berklee College of Music, Boston.  Lauren has been teaching multi-instrumental music professionally since 2000 in public schools, privately, and in community settings.  She has traveled to Ghana, Senegal and India to study music and dance, and specializes in Ewe Drumming and Dancing from Ghana.  In 2004, Lauren volunteered to teach HIV/AIDS awareness in a village in Ghana, West Africa.  During her stay, she was able to study drumming and dancing in depth with master teachers, and help build a drum shop there.  Since her return, Lauren has brought her drumming and experiences to schools, teachers, and other arts therapists.  Currently, Lauren teaches African Drumming at Tufts University for their Community Music program, where she is also an Audio Engineer. In addition, Lauren is the theatrical House Electrician at the historic Orpheum Theatre in Boston, and the Guitar Technician for grammy nominated musician Jon Butcher. She plays violin in the Melrose Symphony Orchestra, and is an active performing member of the Agbekor Drum and Dance Society.  As a Music Therapist, Lauren specializes in working with children with autism and special needs.  Lauren’s multi-cultural approach to music therapy and education is reflected in the diverse populations she works with.  Her high energy and ability to adapt to other’s needs makes her an effective and invaluable mentor!
